Wireless flash on a budget..

Just got some Cactus eBay triggers in the post to fire of my 430EX, a cool piece of kit delivered from Hong Kong for £14, I love cheap gadgets that work!

These allow you to fire nearly any flash (that has Manual options preferably) at quite some distance from the camera, ideal for portrait, product shooting, studio, anything with creative lighting really.

Bought from Digital iShop.

Bargain! I just got my free pack of coloured gels for mine so might get one of those too and get creative. :D

No worries, I can see them proving useful in some tricky situations, just remember that you have to fire the flash in Manual but so far its proved to be rather easy to adjust to personally..

Did you also see the thread about the free gels on POTN? I ordered mine and they came through about 8 weeks later. Costs nothing as they are samples. ;)

There are about 75-150 Gells!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just ordered one not sure how long it will take to arrive but looks like it could be worth the wait.

Lost me now :S. Thought these triggered off the shutter/hotshoe, which then transmitted the RF to the receiver, which then triggered the flashgun.

Thank you for your request. Due to an unprecedented demand for Roscolux and Cinegel swatchbooks, Rosco is currently experiencing delays of up to three months in fulfilling individual swatchbook orders.

Still frees, free :D. Thanks

Thats exactly how it works but the flash won't fire with ETTL and take into account the camera settings, it just fires and you have to enter on the flash how much power you want it to fire.. hope that makes more sense..

You know you can get a pack of like 200 different gels for £10 and they are in a small flat wallet and with no hole at the side so no spill.

Still if you can wait, its good as a freebie.

I think that the gels are a fair bit wider than the head of the flash so there should not be any spill through the hole. . I just have to wait till I head over to the UK to pick them up from my parents place to check.

Ah right now I understand. Originally thought I'd have to close the shutter and then somehow hit a separate button to fire the flash PMSL.
