Williams running costs

At the moment I am driving a 172 Cup but am seriously considering changing to a Williams to reduce my monthly outgoings.

What I want to know is what are the running costs for the Williams like? At the moment my Cup only has 9k miles on and is in warranty so it is not costing me much but I need to know whether the savings I would make on the purchase price would be outweighed by higher running costs on the Williams.

Are there any decent Williams specialists in the Berkshire area who could service it for me as Im sure Renault wouldnt be much use!

Insurance is not an issue on either car as they are about the same.

Ive not owned either, but having owned a valver and knowing a bit about both, Id say that swapping for a Willy is NOT going to reduce your outgoings at all. If anything it might end up costing you more. I doubt the fuel economy is better, in fact a Willy is probably more thirsty cos its old technology compared to the Cup. A Willy will be 10 years old or more and things are going to regularly want replacing, even if the major stuff like cambelt, gearbox, clutch etc have been done.

It all depends on how much your equity is going to be by selling the Cup and buying a Willy, and only you can say how that works out. Another thing to remember is with Willys, condition is everything - so saving money by buying a cheap one is going to almost certainly cost you later on. And if you spend a lot on a minter, then that lessens the amount of spare lolly you have.

hi i got a williams 3 had it for a year and only spent money on servicing and new tyres since i had it.i did pay alot for it though as it was mint but i do find petrol quite expensive £10 may only get me 60 miles ish .where abouts in berkshire are you tim.

Live near Reading. There doesnt seem to be many Williams for sale at the moment and if I did get one it would have to be mint. I understand that things will probably go wrong because it is an older car though.
