Wheel Bearings!

  MINI Cooper S
Getting a typical wheel bearing noise in my car, it comes on at high speed, and more so when i turn left (which means the faulty bearing is on the drivers side of my car?)... the problem is, i cant tell weather it is the front or the back! I have had each wheel jacked up (passenger side too) and spun them by hand, they all sound the same, there is no play in any of the wheels either. I then jacked up one front wheel at a time, started the engine put it in 4th gear and spun one wheel up to 90/100mph in the air, then took it out of gear and turned engine off... both front wheels also sounded fine and sounded the same :|

Any other ways to diagnose which wheel bearing is at fault?

Its a 02 1.4 Clio Dynamique+

Thanksss :D

Front wheel bearing: £18.35

Rear wheel bearing: £26.98

Think i might go for the rear one as you said they are a common fault.

I am pretty confident in changing as i have done a front wheel bearing before on my old mk1 clio, but never done a rear wheel bearing with drums, can you write a quick guide :D i also have a garage round the corner from me to do any pressing if need be.

Thanks

Got the wheel bearing done :) took hub off, took to garage, they changed for £5, got the rear wheel bearing for £20 in the end so 25 quid for the lot not bad :)

However... i have a problem... now when i brake lightly from speeds of 40mph plus... i get a juddering through the brake pedal, doesnt seem to do it as much from lower speeds, and if i brake heavy it does not do it. Took the drum off again and everything looks ok inside, it didnt do this before i changed the wheel bearing (just the wheel bearing hum noise when cornering). If i am traveling slow, and i use the handbrake to stop, the car seems to brake more and then brake less on every turn of the wheel untill the car stops... Any idea's?

Thanks

was there a spacer behind the wheel bearing when you took the drum off??

my front or rear question was aimed at White16V

front or rear?
Front Passenger side.

I can't say I've actually noticed the usual rumbling noise but

a) The might Ben said it was going
b) The knowledgable Mark Fish said it was definitely going when I described the symptoms (bit wandery on the steering, top end bite on the brake pedal gone.)

He also said to reduce my mileage to Zero but that's a bit tricky! :S lol

ahh ok.. no, there was just the bearing and the circlip, and then on the other side like a brass stop that the bearing backs onto and the abs thing...
