washer bottle empty- 182

  Ford Fiesta

One thing after another, still waiting for two new back wheels after renault knackered em.

Notice now the front passenger side headlight washer, which has always been cracked since day 1 but never leaked is now leaking.

Didnt want to take it in for repair before when it was just cracked as I thought id be given a scratched bumper for my troubles. Now I have no choice do I. I understand from search function on here that the washer bottle is a common fault to start to leak on the Renaultsport clios (due to bigger bottle for headlight washers??) but am pretty sure its coming out of the headlight washer only with mine.

How easy is it to do, is there a step by step guide to removing the front bumper, does the black grill the one with the bonnet alarm switch need taking off too? Or would you just leave it to a renault dealer?

Liam.

Could be a long wait, the part is only £7 but its been out of stock for ages!

Its an easy enough job to do, the grill just pops out anyway.

service trying to tell me its not covered under warranty! even though its been cracked since day 1! will have to try to go through the salesman I bought it from. How can it not be thier fault, no car should just start leaking all water out!

anyone any ideas when this part should be in stock then, yet again waiting for parts.

The headlight washer stalks were only covered in the first year of warranty on the 172s not sure if they changed that for the 182s.

  Ford Fiesta

even so ive only had it since june.

whats the part number for the black stork and ball inside the stalk, same part I understand?

  Ford Fiesta

Got the part number for passenger side washer stalk thanks to Jay172 n/s jet-7701207168-£6.13

jay also said on another post-

"not much and there pretty easy to fit.they are held in from behind the bumper by a nut.you will need to pull off the bumper slightly so you can get on the nut with a socket."

so is this right you dont need to take the whole front end off? If so might as well do the job myself..

Renault- love the cars and the company but their dealers let them down, and they are that bad that I think they have put me off buying another renault, even though this is my second. Just got a Fiesta ST brochure through, looking increasingly tempting...

  Renaultsport Clio 182

Had the same with mine, it was cracked from day 1, didnt realise till I got it home......phone up two days later and they said they would have to investigate it incase I had broke it!!!!!!!!!

Told them to sort it or I was phoning Reno UK to tell them what a load of sh*te the aftersales care was.......soon got it done. Just a warning the bumper has to come off so the job takes about 2hours!!!!!!!!

  Ford Fiesta

coope reading Jays post, copied above it sounds like you may not have to take whole bumper off.

Was wondering if I could do it myself thats all.

  Renaultsport Clio 182

If its under warranty then Id get Reno to do it...... if they say theres a wait then tell them there will be a delay in your next payment on the car.

Could do it yourself but if you drop the spanner think of the repairs your going to have to, if Reno scratch it then its them who have to repair it.

  Ford Fiesta

it is under warranty yeah, but they are saying it isnt as I mentioned the crack in it and they say it should have been done when i saw that.

Could end up going to another dealer and not telling them about the crack.

Winter (or nearly winter) and therefore need a bottle full of washing fluid, besides I do by law anyway, and they are saying they dont have the part!. So my car remains off the road then?

lol

(though i have never used the washers since i got the car;-)

  Ford Fiesta

yep, seems thats what they use as a get out clause. Thats 3 people so far that have been told same. Cant believe so many are cracked. Id have got it done back then if Id have known 6 month down line it would start leaking fuild all over place!

  Ford Fiesta

yep passenger side. what is actually leaking then its not some kind of valve at the back is it?

have you just left yours then, like I did to start with?

yeh left it, renault reckon i have banged it ???? but i havnt and nobody else has either, so i was going to do it but i read on here that it was a bumper of job so hoped it would be ok, mine has never leaked yet but i did get a completely empty water bottle somehow, you will have to let me know if you can do it without taking the bumper off

  Ford Fiesta

its such a common fault and renault try and fob us off saying we have done it. Why dont they check as they leave the production line, mind they prob do and too much hasstle replacing them there.

Does your water bottle always empty itself then? When i used to squirt it (one occasion only) the majority went on the light but some squirted out of the crack to the side also.

I might well have a go replacing it myself, it cant be that hard if I take my time.

my bottle has only emptied once and to be honest it could of been me using it that ran it down, but to be honest i dont use the washer jets so wouldnt know if it has leaked from the cracks or not, if you give it a go you will have to let me know how it went

managed to get the correct part, found one in stock at my local dealer! purchased it didnt want someone else to get it.

Its booked in to get it changed thursday but I might decide to change it myself before then.

a small note in the packet converted to english reads:

"this informative note must be joined to jets LPBP in order to
sensibillser the operators of the network within the framework of a
change of part on vehicule.

Jet Washes projector low pressure LPBP for X65 and X64
The tightening torque of the ecrou M16 must lie between 2 mn
and 3 mn

caution!
an insufficient tightening risks entrainer the loss of the part.
An excessive tightening is likely to cause the dysfunction of the
internal system and entrainer the escape of the liquid washes ice."

or something similar. Probably have probs with them not tightening them correctly thats why they fly out again.

Got my 182 in late June also. Had a cracked headlamp washer stalk replaced under warranty a few months later. They have to remove the bumper, which they scratched. I am also waiting for a wheel to replace the one the dealer damaged. All the damage to my car has been caused by the dealer.

  Ford Fiesta

how long have you been waiting for the wheel? im waiting for 2, they say they will have some in stock in next few days.

also where did they damage your bumper?

did they have to take the wheel off to remove the bumper or was the wheel damaged from something else?

  Ford Fiesta

id like to know if they have to take the wheels off too, I think the wheel that big lee has damaged is the rear drivers side though, but I may be wrong so obviously from some other work if so.

  Ford Fiesta

took mine in Sunwin Bradford this morning, not looking forward to it after what Renault halifax did to my wheels!

arrogant ****** on the service reception as usual saying "oh youve brought your own part, well we will have to charge you for the whole job as we have to supply the parts!"

Anyway he didnt want me to wait with the car, but i said i was and so he got the tech on it right away. There is a black guy who works there think he may be called Rob and I think he is the renaultsport specialist, seems to know what hes doing anyway.

He had changed the passenger headlamp washer over within 30mins and I am certain he did not remove the bumper fully.

Everything seems ok, Im not too keen testing the headlight washers too much as I know the balls will fly out soon (maybe!) and Id be back to square one.

only mark I can see is like an indentation about the width of a flat screwdriver blade, above the passenger fog light, not a scratch as such. So not too bad over all. Could have been worse.

Common fault fixed, for now.

We should have a list going on of common faults for 182/172s..

I am certain they did not, as the locking wheel nut was well hidden in the boot and has not been moved.

He did it without taking wheels or or as above i think without taking whole bumper off.

Just filled it with 50/50 renault screenwash now so should be ok for -20C dont want it to freeze and mess the headlight washer stalk again..... not that that happened before?...

did you get this done under warranty ???, i tried today and they said i should of brought it back earlier and because i didnt its not under warranty !!!!!!WTF, ps this was renault nottingham

  Ford Fiesta

one service guy said the same to me, even after it was leaking and the washer bottle empty!

crazy. I went back another day and spoke to another service guy it was fixed in 20mins and i was out of there, no payment. so yes under warranty

this was my first experience of renault service and i have to say it was b****cks !!!!!!!!!!!, they reckon i have done to many miles, im guessing no matter how many miles i said they would say it was too much

  Ford Fiesta

explain to them the warranty is unlimited mileage warranty.

man, they are thick.

yeh but they say i should of returned it straight away fukin monkeys, anyway will try with someone else , did anybody try and do this without taking the bumper off

  Ford Fiesta

i was going to but i chickened out as i said the tech managed to do it without taking bumper off in 20mins and only left 1 tiny mark.

go back and say with the frost overnight i tried using them and then say they were both cracked. Dont mention its been like it since new.
