Warranty question!

Looking at a clio dci at the weekend. It's registered a cat d due to being damaged on the rear axel. Car has been fully repaired and will be checked by a independent garrage to make sure everything is A ok.

My questions is, the car is on a 05 plate with only 15,000 miles on the clock. Would this still be covered under warranty if it has been written off by a insurance company?

Yep will be but you won't be able to cliam for any warently work which the acidient or the repair are to blame for.

But its had more damge that just a rear axle to write it off trsut me rear axles are £400 and a few hours to fit ther emore damage than just that.

Mine was a touch and go if it was to be written off at 16k and 8 month old and that had some serious damage to the suspension bodywork etc fornt and rear.

This is the car. They seem very genuine and they are happy to have a rac man check over the car.

If its Cat D its not necessarily a 'write off'.

If its a new for old insurance policy and the owners only had it a few weeks, months etc, the insurer may be obliged to provide 'new for old'.

Hence insurer sells on and someone fixes and sells on again.

Cat D is a write off for cars which arn't worth fixing for various reasons your right buts its still written off.

Insures doens't have to do new for old for all crashes. Damaging the rear axle is about £1k at a overpriced dealership and an insurer would pay out for that. The new for old policy only works so if you write your car off after say 11 month and 30k and its worth say £5k normmally wheras its £10k new they give you the new £10 k which puts you in a better position than you were before the crash as your cars only worth £5k before the crash with that age and milage.
