valver starter motor problem

  www.renparts.co.uk
Right me and my mate have rewired the valver i bought and all seems well. Except when i turn the key. nothing happens, fuel pump kicks in just doesn't turn over. Thing is when the key is in the starting position the starter motor gets very very hot, im assuming its jammed, how do i go about unjamming it? or am i better getting a new motor from a scrappy? i tried hitting it with a hammer to no avail. Either way looks like i will have to remove the motor for repair/replacement, can this be done with the manifold in place? if yes/no how do i go about removing it?
thanks

Have you tried putting it in gear and you and your mate rocking it forward/backwards?

When you actually going to get the starter from a scrappy, hit it really hard with the hammer - if your getting a new one it can't hurt if it works.

Yeah disconnect the battery before unless you want to melt your spanner/hand.

While its off clean the terminals etc
