I want to fit an oil temp gauge to my 172 but don't want to be going about drilling and tapping the sump to fit the sender. One option (i think) is to replace the level sender that its got at the moment and replace it with the level/temp sender from a valver/williams ala:

The only problem is i've got no idea on compatibility with the current sender, now obviously i've got dialogys but I don't know if theres any info on there as the Mk1 tech manuals are a little sketchy with the willy and valver.
The main points are obviously is the level sender calibrated the same as the 172 one length wise etc and they look very similar and would be temp sender output be compatibily with and aftermarket guage such as this:
