Valver immobilizer

i know someone that has a ph2 or later valver (one of the ones with a renault immobilizer) its causing her problems for some reason, i cant remember exactly how, but something to do with that and her clifford alarm not working. From what she's told me the garage has said, if she didnt have a renault immobilizer it would be ok. SO now to my question, iirc the ph1 valver didnt have an immobilizer, so if she fitted a ph1 ecu this should solver her problem, but would there be any other issues using a ph1 ecu? would it stop anything else working or cause any running problems? is there anything other than the ecu she'd need?
