throttle response

how do people find this in their clios thought my 172 cup was normal but have just driven g/fs 1.2 dynamique and found that the slightest touch of the pedal caused a rev increase (in neutral) however in my cup you can actually quickly jab the pedal quite far and get no engine response!.im happy with the car but tbh the instant response in the 1.2 felt really good.is this a fault or is it just variation between engines/cars? ps dug out an old evo mag and the 172 was allways highly commended on throttle response

I notice this at idle in neutral, almost feels like a very heavy flywheel, but once on the road the throttle resonse is electrifying!

Worst ever, was my Fita Stilo company car, on the road you had to plan your move about 3 minutes in advance..it was literally 3/4 of a second before anything responded to my foot. Truly horrible car that had a new fault every day and handled like a gondola.

so isnt connected to the tb so you wont get the same effect as a cable throttle :) but you can change the responciveness of the throttle

I wouldnt say that was entirely accurate McBunny, the throttle response on the move is fantastic. When you rev from idle its very sedate, rises slowly and dies slowly. It seems to me that the ECU knows if youre moving or not, because once the wheels are rolling the response is neck snapping.

roy your right its set not to be thats what i was trying to say but missed bits out

ukcat dealer should be able to do it with the clip machine thingy plugged into the obd2 port

no 1.2 is cable iirc

1.2 dynamiques will have an electronic throttle.

not quite sure how you meant your answer mcbunny so adding that in incase

right how do i put this one car is a 1.2 ones is a 2 litre one is designed as a town car one is a hot hatch
id try driving another 172 first to see if its the same (from what i remember mine was the same) and its down to the fbw but as i say it can be altered

  2005 Impreza WRX STI

dont worry about it mate, i had a punto gt turbo. the response was sh*t! the turbo lag was unreal!

u put your foot down even in first and it felt like a second later it actually started moving!pulled like mad tho when it had got over the initial throttle response!

my 172 feels like what your describing, but as roy munson said once your moving, its immense! pulls like a horse :)

yeah your right.its just strange how when your driving its like theres a solid rod between the pedal and the engine and then when your in neutral or slow starting/reversing its like theres a million ton of cotton wool between them -wierd
