Thick question - how do i add a pic to a thread

despite working in IT for over 10 years (in sales though, so thats my excuse) i still have no clue how to add a picture to a forum, or even how or where i can clip an image to add as my profile pic.

so please could someone offer some kind tips - from having jpegs in the "my docs" folder to actually adding them to this site?

ps - i did a forum search but couldnt find anything related.

any help would be wonderful.

go t imageshack.us or photobucket - host the pick (upload to an album) and copy the link into the thread by pressing the yellow button above where you write (its got mountains in it)
