That's what seems to happen when you've had a Renault sport Clio in a past life
Bit of a read this sorry 😂
I've been a member on here since 2004 🤯 and it's fair to say I've had my fair share of Clio's over the years
Started with 172 cup back in 2005. Loved this thing, ended up with H&R coilovers / trendline recaros

That then got replaced with a 182

That didn't last too long, never quite hit the spot like the 172 cup did. Randomly, it's still about as I saw it pop up on here last year 🤣
Replaced the 182 in 2008 with a 197. Spec wise this had Recaros and I sourced some H&R coilovers - loved it 😎

That lasted a few years, then needed to free up some cash for a house, so sold for another 172 cup

Once the house was sorted, I managed to get my hands on another 197 - this time a white cup - loved this wee car, Recaros - KW coilovers - proper B road weapon

After owing the Cup for a few years, thought id try something else

Didn't get on unfortunately. It sounded well, but was rotten for (at the time) a car that was 5 years old. I also missed Renault Sport handling, so the Golf lasted 6 months.
Next, Megane 250 Cup.

Loved it - as soon as jumped in, it felt like I was back at home, back to a car with the Renault Sport magic 😎. This one was a genuine cup with recaros - EFI remap 315 bhp
Next was a 265 - just fancied a facelift with less miles

Again, recaros and EFI remap to 300 bhp, but it never quite felt as good as the 250 imo. Looked well though.
That then got upgraded for a 275 Trophy.

So that's where I've been for the last three years, untill February.
Steve at Birchdown is a good mate, and had a Clio 200 that he rescued from a local guy last year. It had been parked up off the road for the last few years, and had seen better days in all honesty. Luckily Steve being the mechanical whizz sorted all the oily bits, new belts and various other bits. Got it mechanically sorted and back on the road last summer 😎
Fast forward to this year - Steve mentioned it might be for sale - it wasn't getting used much and needed the space.
The deal was done 🤝
All important cupped car with Recaros - In surprisingly great condition for their age
I got it back on the road in March - and it's fair to say I've missed these little Clio's. Ive missed revving out a N/A car, and tbh it feels lightweight compared to the Meganes. Yes the Clio is slower, but currently id probably take the Clio over the Megane for a good B road thrash. Gearbox is great and it just feels "right"
Mods wise it's pretty stock, with just cooksports springs fitted on cup dampers.
Few little mods I've done
Replaced the roof aerial / radio for a dab item - the O.E radio didn't even have Bluetooth, so needed something to bring it into this century 🤣
Sourced some vinyl for the door pillars
Wrapped the bump strips and door handles black, cup style. Aways liked this look for some reason
Other than a wheel refurb, refurbished steering wheel and gear knob on the way & couple of other minor jobs, I'll just enjoy it for the summer
Good to be back 👌
