Tempest Rally - Yateley Stage

  Nikon D700
My first real outing for the d700, went down to the Yateley stage of the Tempest Rally.

Massive downside though, my sigma 70-200 broke! Meant I had to be more creative though, which is a good thing, I suppose... Thoroughly enjoyed it though. Will definitely revisit...

These are un-molested (so far), just a bit of cropping.

C&C welcome...

  Rally bus
I had a spin in that Fiesta when it was being tested in Wales last week, it's pretty quick :D

  Oil Burner
Nice shots, framed a bit tight in my opinion, but some really nice background lighting in 3 and 4.

Some nice shots particularly liking the second curtain flash action, were you using the flash in manual mode or iTTL (or whatever the Nikon equivalent of ETTL is...)?

Cheers for your comments guys...

mmmm D700. Love them.

How are you finding it?

Absolutely love it. I was happy with my D90, but just needed full frame for some stuff I plan to do.

Pic 3 is superb. What shutter speed were you using?

1/200 on that one, at ISO 800. I had about 45 seconds of perfect sun, luckily enough a car came along just in time :)

Manual all the way. Can't remember what the power was, I think about 1/4. Thinking about it, I should have played round a bit more with the distance on the SB900 to get the car lit, and the BG not so much. Maybe next time :)
