Tech help F4R motor

  172 & LCR
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After various conversations with different people ref F4R engine I have just purchased a 172 F4R736 engine complete problem being I am about to use it as a replacment in a 2.0 16V F4R700 Espace year 2000 it dropped a couple of valves damaging a piston & wrecking the head, I am only planning to use the Block & head from the 172 with all of my manifolds off the espace my main concern is the VVT soliniod as i will have no link back to ecu will it pay to put cams an rocker cover from my espace motor on to 172 or should I just leave solinoid dissconnected. Not bothered about power as long as it will run & drive ok.
Any advice will be much appriciated.

Thanks in advance

You realy should remove the cams and use your old ones. The 172 cams are different higher lift so in theory more power but the igniton etc timing wrong for the cams and the VVT not working means the cams won't be right.

Eh? VVT solenoid will be on your 172 head not the espace one. From what your saying sounds like your only using the Espace manifolds and bottom end? Why not leave it connected, are you definitely on about the VVT solenoid?

Sure you don't mean the VVT de-phaser? You can leave that on aswell

Motor out of espace now 172 induction side off heads are identical externally even down to solinoid so just leaving 172 cams in but using all espace ancillaries,as for timing being wrong this should be fine as bottom end is no different. Should be one of the quickest grand esapaces around est 150 bhp should be fun going camping with it next week as long as it runs once the engines back in.
