Stoopid question! Exhaust fitting

Hi -

Without sounding an idiot... the exhaust back box on my old saxo was changed within minutes, undo the ring shaped clamp and clamp the back box in place.

Looked under the clio 172 cup 2002 and there doesnt seem to be any joints to undo to in order to fit a "direct replacement stainless back box"???

How did you fit yours??! i havent got the car yet, just had a quick glance! cheers

on my old 1.2 clio they cut it and then welded the new one on. aint looked under my 182 but can imagine its the same. a one piece system from front to back. no easy option mate gonna need welding

thanks chaps

looked on ebay and realised you can either cut and clamp

or get a custom new stainless pipe from the cat which i guess you just unbolt from the cat and then clamp as you would normally on say a ford

not being a complete idiot BUT

dont want to modify the car much, and one day would like to know i can put the standard exhaust on.

If i undo the bolts at the cat, to fit the cat back system. Will the standard exhaust...from the cat to the backbox remove all in one? or do you still need to cut it whatever happens? I mean to get out from going over the torsion bar and under the rear bumper?

i havent got the car yet, trying to visualise

On my 172 I didnt have to cut. There was a join behind the cross member between the rear wheels. It was just a case of whacking it with a rubber hammer.

I am assuming however this was the standard back box (it looked like it).
