Starting problem, usual suspects ruled out, anything you can think of?

Well for the first time the flamer has let me down. Thankfully at home though!

It cranks well, the fuel pump primes, the immobiliser light doesn't flash, the tdc sensor has been cleaned, a known working coil pack has been tried and none of it has made a difference.

I reckon its not getting a spark and certainly a wee tester I've got would agree with that but then again, I've never used the tester for that so maybe its broken too!

What else is there to check?

Cheers

Does the vehicles live data confirm the ECM is 'seeing' rotation when you crank it? Do all the various engine sensors have +12v? All fuses intact and no obvious signs of wiring faults such as broken earths or shorts to ground (That doesn't mean showing your arse to the world either ;) )

I've done the last one already ;)

Its a shitty generic code reader unfortunately so cant access the live data. I've checked all the fuses and earthed the engine with a jump lead to double check. All sensors looked ok and no obvious rust but I'll go back and double check them all.

If the crank sensor wasnt sending a signal then the coilpack wouldnt get a signal either would it? Convinced its the bloody crank sensor but struggling to prove it! Cheers Mick

Correct, which is why the live data screen is an important one as it allows you to see if the ECM is seeing rotation or not thus letting you know if the CPS reading is being taken in to account. If the CPS isn't working due to say a sensor malfunction or a wiring fault then the ECM cannot tell when the engine is cranking and/or when No.1 reaches TDC and so cannot run the firing program.

The fuel pump one but I just swapped it over for the cooling fan one intially to diagnose it. I went to my local scrappies and got some, I'd guess it probably is a reno only part new though as its much thinner than normal relays.
