Special Tools.

  No more clio's for me!
Do you need any special tools to carry out a timing belt change or aux belt change??

Since the dealers are soo expensive, i know a guy who owns his own garage and will do a full service, cambelt change, timing belt change and aux belt change all for £350ish thats including labour (depending on other parts required). However, when enquiring about the timing and aux belt kits, the wholesaler told him, under no circumstances must these be touched...only by Renaults dealers! Is this true? Or is it just a ploy by Renault so people have to pay through the nose for servicing??

Any help or comments greatly apprenciated.

aux belt is the alternator belt iirc, and mine has been done 3 times by my local garage (dont ask why 3 times, there is good reason but its a long story) and cam belt can be changed by your local garage aswell.

Rentech Mike used a special tool when my belts were changed.

(apart from his MagicHammer™ that is)

Most decent garages will have the tools - I had my Cambelt changed at a non renault affiliated garage with no issues at all!
