Screeching at low speed

Got in the car just now and when steering at low speed or while stationary there is an awful loud screeching and sort of loud creaking noise.

I think its coming from the PAS pump, its not the normal fan belt screeching that can occur, its much louder and much more worryingly sounding.

Just come back from cadwell yesterday but was fine last night.

Any ideas?

My description was crap so here is a video.

Didnt even have to trun the wheels this time, thats just when it started! I am pretty sure its AUX belt related.

Someone told me it could be the aux belt and to get a new kit fitted? I am tending to agree...

But going to take it in to a garage tomorrow i think.

Could someone move this to engine/running gear section also

hard to say from that vid, but its f**ked

:(

It only does it either on start up like in the vid, or when steering at slow speed/stationary so must be an aux/PAS pump problem.

Could it be the aux belt we fitted was tensioned wrong? Since fitting it I have had some light screeching on full lock (I have heard a few clio's on meets that do this) but thats all, until tonight. I'll be honest, we were proper pissed off the day we changed that and rushed towards the end, it is also on the original aux tensioner @ 90k too

probably the PAS pump more than likley if its steering related

Thats what I was thinking, will take it in tomorrow after work and see what he charges/how quick he can fix it, hes usually reasonable.

Is there a risk in driving it day to day? (obviously you cant say for definite, but as a PAS fault)

Need one of you specialists nearby, not got anyone near leeds really (thats reasonable priced ) :(

RS tuning's dad? west end garage are renault specilaists

Quoted someone I was talking to fairly high prices for work doing, and also someone else on a meet once paid a lot. I'd rather travel to birchdown or you, would work out cheaper too :)

Will keep it in mind and might give them a shout if needed, dont really think it should be a job that requires a specialist anyway.

Garage said the aux belt is too slack, he's going to look into it when he gets a minute anyway. He only had 2 minutes on it before he had to close up (and give me a free lift home )

If it is just the aux belt i'll just let him fit the full kit, like i said, never had the full aux kit done in its life, just the belt twice.
