RSi 8v converted to 182...not 172?

  Clio 1.8 8v RSi
I wrote 'not 172' as all i see is mk1s converted to 172s...never converted to 182s? Why is this?

Id of thought people would rather the 182?

How much would the total costs be to convert to the 182? There is a Clio 1.2 mk2 on ebay converted to a 182, the total costs of the engine conversion he said was £5,500 alone!?

You may all say why not just buy a 182 but no, i want this as a project!

the only real difference between 182 and 172 is the exhaust manifold, and more 172's crash than 182s so there are more donors about for conversion.
probably also more of a sod to route the longer manifold

So thats why i cant find a single 182 breaking!? Why do more 172s crash?

I havnt been out in a 172, but Han off of here has one and took me for a spin so i was very impressed, maybe if i did go in a 172 i may be just as happy?

they say 172 because they are normally engines sourced from a 172. The engines are basically the same so makes very little difference and both as tuneable as the other, and obviously these cars arent likely to have standard engines ;)
