Revs dying at 6700rpm

  328, MK1 Clio 1.4
As above, but they don't just hit a flat spot, it suddenly jerks and stops accelerating.

It doesn't do it everytime, probably 3% of the time I redline it, out of these rare ocassions it seems to be the first time I redline it since starting the engine, it isn't because the engine is cold, I am not that stupid.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

6750 is the cold limit, so it sounds like that is indeed the 'issue'. It takes a good 15 minutes or so before it goes up to 7250.

i believe depending on temp and what gear you are in it will limit it at diff stages, (what i heard on here)

However it sounds like its just simply not warmed up enough. when the temp needle on the dash is half way this doesnt mean the oil is up to temp... just the coolant.

I knew it was the coolant temp, but didn't realise this it could take up to 15 minutes to move to 7250. I never boot it until I am out of town where I live which is about 7-8 minutes away, thought that would be enough . . .

Oh well, thanks a lot for the help guys,
