Reverse lights don't always light up - dCi 100

Hi,

So, as per tittle, the rear lights don't always light up.

It's probably the 'reverse valve' that's a little bit loose, and doesn't always make contact.

The thing is I don't know where that 'valve/sensor' is located.

Anyone know? Edde? :rasp:

Theres a reverse light switch in the gearbox. Mine is on the end of the gearbox as you look at it end on take the wheel off (drivers side for you) and you should be able to see it.
It should be the only wire going to the gearbox, probably got a bad connection through corrosion or whatever.

If I get it into reverse gently, the lights don't light up, but if I do it more firmly they do. :|

Could be a knackered switch but couldn't say without having a look at it. Iirc the switch can be removed from the outside with the gearbox inplace but i'm not 100%.
Should be a easyish fix either way.

Took it out and put it back in. Same thing happens.

The dci100 has a diferent gearbox than the rest of the Clios. The R is "below" the 5th .

Maybe it needs some tune up? :|

Yeh the DCi100 uses the same box as the 1.6/1.8 Lagunas. Could be a bad contact or broken switch, if its under warrenty then let renault sort it out.

Ok.

All fixed. It was the ' reverse valve' (dunno how you call it. It's under the car, more or less, below the gear stick).

They changed it under warranty.
