Rev' Problem

  180.5 bhp 172
Basically, the story is as follows....

on the motorway in 5th, inside lane, put my foot down to overtake a car and bang.
A piece of the aux belt frayed and caught in the cam belt, making it skip teeth and putting the timing out. Que shopping list for 8 new valves!

Anyway, finished rebuilding it yesterday and took it for a drive. No problems.

Drove it to work today and noticed when i let off to change gear or roll in neutral to a junction/lights the revs stay at 2k rpm. Sometimes if a blip the throttle it will drop back down to a normal idle, but more often than not it'll stop at 2k.

I have cleaned the throttle butterfly with carb/engine cleaner but that hasnt helped.

Any ideas?

Nick.

My revs kept sticking high and it turned out to be an air leak from the inlet manifold, might be worth checking.

I had the same problem, turned out to be an air leak at the back of the inlet mani, check that first
