Reusing Front Strut Top Nuts - OK?

  2005 Clio 1.2 16v
Hi,

New member here having picked up a 2005 mk2 Ph2 as a cheap and cheerful run-around. Slightly suspect handling proved not to be due to track-rod end or pot hole damage, but to one of the front dampers having rusted right through! So I've fitted new dampers and reassembled the front struts. I've had a good look here, and there seem to be countless threads about front struts, but none answering my question, forgive me if I've missed it...

New dampers came from GSF with a plain nyloc nut on each one, I was expecting to use these to hold down the rubberised top-hat sections that go on the top of the damper and stop the strut dropping out over hump-back bridges, however when I eventually got the top nuts off, they appear to be bonded to the top-hat things. Are they safe to reuse, or should I get replacements? Sadly I don't have a dealer nearby, so I can't easily replace them on the off chance. The Nut part has a domed top like a nuloc nut, but I can't actually see a nylon insert...

These are what are on my car:

And these are the replacement nuts that came on the dampers:

I can't see the one-piece tops available from any of the usual suppliers, I'd expect them to be readily available if they needed replacement whenever the struts are removed?

Or has someone fitted a non-standard setup in the past?

Thanks in advance,

--Tobes
