replacement engine cost

right my engine blew up on my way home from r-tec today

just want to know if anyone has had this done and has any prices recomendations??

what, new engine or s/h?

If your going to lob in a new engine then costs will be minimal as you wont have to change anything. Sourcing a 1.8 for 250 isnt hard.

But as with most people im sure youll be tempted by a few tweeks whist you got an engine out.

probably a recon i mean i dont want to put a second hand untouched one in and find it goes bang in 6 months time.

mine had done 87000 miles and had full service history and havent had a problem with any engine part for the last 9 months ive had it and then bang.

it was running sweet as a nut

what you reckon??

a recon engine with a warrenty if you can find one is perfectly fine, but if you cant then a s/h engine which you can dismantle and check is just as good.

Entirely up to you, no doubt some people will be urging a 2ltr conversion on you lol.
