removing tints from rear lights?

Sounds hardcore, but I had to do this to my brother-in-law's car.
1200 grit wet & dry.
Lots of Fairy liquid in some water then give them a damn good going over.
When you have all of the tint off and a slightly frosted look to the lights, use a machine polisher and some 3M Finesse It (cutting paste) to buff up like new!
Easy.
FWIW, brake cleaner *might* melt the plastic. Be warned.
