For the bit of plastic their are two plastic bits holding it in right at the back if you pop these out I think it's just velcro that holds it down. It's a bit awkard to get out though.
The gearlever you will need to get undo the car and undo the heatshield for access to detach the linkage and undo the bolts.
gear stick gaitor comes out from the front of it do not pull the back. the ash tray pops out then give the cup holder bit a good yank and it will com out the other bit is just velcoed in at the back from memery but check for screws. then to take the gear linkage off i think you have to drop the CAT out and the heat shield.
why'd you want to remove all that ? if u just want to remove the gear stick, just unbolt it from below 4 nuts, bend the heat shield out the way, and undo the mid exhaust / cat joint and the gear stick and plastic bit wll fall out, thats what to do if u just want to remove the gear leave

That's what I need to do. I have a new gear lever and mount as I don't want to hack up my original so assumed that the centre console would need removing as well.
Good job the Cat' needs adjusting anyway as that is a nightmare of a job.
