Rear brake issue... 182

  tiTTy & SV650
Put new renault rear discs and pads on the other week and if I'm on an incline pointing down (e.g. just after reversing up my drive) I put the handbrake on, as I take my foot off the brake pedal the car settles more to one side than the other?!

What could cause this? A caliper not releasing properly? i.e. copperslip job? Maybe an issue with the cable?

Any advice would be good.

Cheers, Rory

could need bleeding. how many miles have you covered since doing it. if you've bedded them in. you need to check it over and bleed them a little

I'd check the pads are actually moving freely in the carriers . You could try cleaning all the old muck , brake dust etc off the carriers , you can get alot of build up on there stopping the pads moving .I had to file a tiny little bit off the backplate of the pads once as they were a tight fit . Then rebleed , pump the brakes hard so they sit on the discs better .It might just be a case of that the pads having bedded in properly yet .

If the handbrake worked fine before with the old pads and discs , i'd be less inclined to think it was a problem with the caliper tbh . Having said that . I once had a sticking rear caliper , the adjuster screw had rusted up slightly so i had to strip it down , emery cloth it and put it back together . Bit of a b**ch of a job tbh as there are 5 sprung washers inside the caliper and they're a bugger to get back in . Go with the easy option first , cleaning off all the muck .
