RCL & HU Help

Hey all, I have the infrared version of the rcl and was wondering if theres anyway to extend the range, i literally have to be on top of the car for it to work and i may as well be opening it with the key.

Also i Just fitted an aftermarket stereo but it doesnt seem to remember any of my settings or radio time, does this need to be connected to the interior clock/display for it to get a low powerfeed to remember settings?
