quick question on oil filters

the filter i took off the car had a spring loaded valve of some kind in it(correct me if thats the wrong description) the new one i have fitted doesn't have one.
i assume its a 1 way valve?
is this of any significance?

huh? just use genuine and dont think any more of it

ok done some research its an over pressure relief valve, basically if the filter gets blocked it will bypass it thus not loosing oil pressure/straining the pump. my new filter doesn't have one so i guess if it gets blocked it will be knacker the engine lol at least it will be changed in 6k
