question on front steering geometry using wheel spacers

  LY 182
i was thinking about this the other day and couldnt really get my head round it -
using front wheel spacers, you are not only widening the track but you are extending the "swing" of the front wheels aswell?
sort of when turning lock to lock the front wheels are actually moving backwards and forwards in the arch aswell which surely is effecting something?
what im wondering is woud this cause a problem handling wise?
obviously the cars that are widetrack to start with use longer lower arms and wider spaced out shocks so the "swing" is going to be next to nothing

???

cheers
