Hoping not but im not sure.

Heres the problem.

When i change gear, i think it only happens when going from 2nd to 1st, havent really noticed it in the others i get a juddering sound from the gears.

Only had it a week and tbo it may be nothing but it doesnt sound right.

What do you guys think? anything to worry about?

172s are known for making a clunk when going from neutral to 1st? is it a similar noise to that?

there are quite a few people on here whove needed new gearboxes pretty early on though...

as long as you dont let the revs fall below 2000, a little is fine but 2000 should be the limit change down a gear and all will be fine.

at 2000 revs the box and engin are still spining enough to allow you to keep the car moving and under your control, when changing down like this you have to options open to you.

1: you are able to accelerate back up the gear range quickly without anydelay or straining of the engine

2: You are going slow enough so that you can continue to slow down or you can just potpe along in traffic

either way this is the best way to keep the gears and the engin happy as they are both still spinning at a good speed for either slowing down or for warp speed take off!

I must appologise about my several post that got me kicked as a spammer, its all down to a sticky enter key!, dam those trax girl pics!! dam them

:devilish:

I know its not the same problem but I had "sticking" gears when new, it needed a good yank to get it out of gear.

Thankfully, 9 months and 20k miles have freed it up nicely, so yours may well get better with age.

Right, ive been to work in it this morning and although the juddering wasnt noticable something was ( may be normal, i dont know!)

There is a looseness/play in the gearbox. Its hard to explain but it seems to go into the gear yet it seems that it hasnt:confused:

As i say its hard to explain but to me it doesnt seem right ( although it might be normal)

Looks like a trip to Reno could be on the cards already (hope not)
