One final question regarding 'registered keeper'

The car is in my dad's name atm, if he fills out the form and puts today's date on and sends it to the DVLA but we don't get the V5C back for a couple of weeks, will I still be the registered keeper from today's date?

You/He will remain the registered keeper until dvla are notified

and they will send you it back with todays date in the part sayin "aquired vehicle on" or sumin like that

yeah it does, i done it with my old car, swapped it from my mums name to mine and it put an extra owner on it

For the sake of arguement though, when you post the form off you might as well say you're the registered keeper, like when you buy a car and insure it to drive home, you are as you've filled out the green slip.

i think once youve signed for the car its yours but say the police done a check it may still come up ur dads car if the dvla havent been told/got round to changing their records

That's what I've done :) thanks all!
