Now what

  2005 Audi A3 3.2 Quattro

Ok well the new head unit is in (Just need an antenae adapter for it as the renault one dont fit).

What Im after now if getting the sound right because the standard speakers are not great.

Any ideas of where to from here with regard to replacing the door speakers, and possibly a small sub.

for £200 you will be struggling to find a sub and some front speakers that are half decent. Obviously the sub box is about £40 so that leaves you £160. You can only really get a sub or a pair of components with that...not both together. You will need an amp to power the sub too.

To start with you could get a pair of Components like the Audiobahn ABC525Qs for £109.99 and then go for a smallish 4 channel amp to power them and the standard rear speakers. It will sound much better. Then you can save a bit of cash and go for a decent amp and sub. It will be better in the long run to do it that way.

Hope that helps

£40 for a sub box????? I could easily get a decent sub box here for £12.80.

Anyway my ICE plans are on hold till I can find a new job. *sigh*

You could make one for £12.80 yes. However if you wanted to buy one you would be hard pushed to find one for less than £30...If you know anywhere that does do them for that much then please let me know and ill change our supplier.

You people must have some serious sound systems! Im too deaf to appreciate it so it would be a waste of money for me :(. Spent too much time in the haevy steel industry I guess!

I am talking about buying one.

From the same place where I bought my HU from. They have single 10" sub boxes going for R160 (£12.80)

yea but for 12.80 u get high quality "chip board" sh*te carpet, gaps u could fit a screw driver through, and no sealer,

either buy a decent one or make your own, damn fibre glass will cost u about a fiver anyway and wood is atleast a tenner and carpet aint cheap so,

Ohh... I remember my first Amp/Sub & MDF Box I had back in 96, £20 I paid for the lot used including about 25 ft of wire, think the amp was a Goodmans, didnt even look what make the Sub was, sounded fairly decent once connected properly though. Bought it from a girl at Virgin cinemas I worked at, she had a gorgeous diesel Escort Cosworth look-a-like in dark blue metallic, never seen it since!
