NO backbox valver

this may sound strange but i was putting a new scorpion backbox on my valver and had to cut the pld one off as it had seized on

anyway i overdid the cutting and i'e gotta get the new scorpion box welded on!

been driving round for a couple of days now with the backbox off and the car sounds fantastic really really good

it pops and is not stupid loud but just really rumbly like a subaru when i am just cruising!.

i dont get this cause arent backbox's meant to make cars sound better lol

my mate has a scorpion box on his and even he says it dont sound as good as mine without a backbox

its a m reg with a cat still attached the exhaust has been cut about 2 foot from the reat of the car. practically level with the rear wheel

i'm honestly tempte to just get some 3 inch pipe welded to it instead of the scorpion

at first i though i was imagining it just cause of the extra noise but it actually goes faster in first couple of gears. my mate agrees and i can actually pull ahead of him now wehn before it was a photo finish everytime!

can someone please tell me i'm not going crazy and shed some light into this silly little matter of mine

Are you deaf mate?

My rear silencer fell of my 172 MkII a while back and the whole car vibrated and sounded like a machine gun,... but seemed a lot slower; strangled.

Mate works for Renault, head of workshop and says no damage to the engine will result from running without it,.. so if you can live with that noise, go ahead.

I got a silencer fitted the same day.

Presume you have a cat and centre silencer then?

You need atleast one silencer or you will ahve virtually no back pressure and your car will run like a bag o' w**k.

Malice has no cat, no centre silencer and no backbox on his clio turbo, and thats stupidly loud (turbos don't need backpressure)
