New Eibach Sportlines

  Clio Dynamique 1.4 16V
Ordered my new springs today. Cant wait till they come.
I paid £130 is this a good price?

Now I need to find someone in Bristol to help me fit them as I don't have the correct tools.

They're really easy to do.
I brought myself a set of spring compressors to do them with. Other than that, all you need is a good socket set and possibly some WD40 to help loosen the bolts on the top mounts.

Axle stands or a proper lift yes. You COULD just get away with using trolley jacks but axle stands are much safer.
Axle stands can be brought for about a tenner, as can spring compressors. The only other hurdles then are the cold weather, your confidence and whether or not you're worried about getting scraped knuckles (like I did).

im not scared of hard work, just worried that i get half way with the front struts off then cant get it back on.

sure i read on here over the week end, you dont actually need spring compressors.......

You don't. But they do make the job a hell of a lot easier (and safer).
I wouldn't want a thick spring like that, with all that stored up energy jumping up and smashing me in the jaw.

It took me and my brother (he's the car expert) a couple of hours to do one afternoon, it's not too difficult a job, the front struts were a bit of a pain compared to the back springs but as long as you've got the tools to hand and the patience there then it's fine.

There's a good guide on here somewhere that I used for reference along with my trusty Haynes manual :)

I know it's pretty obvious but I didn't know any better when I first started messing with the car :rasp: - it'll need to have the tracking and camber adjusted once the new springs are on.

I never bothered having mine done. After about a year of driving it it's still fine. No uneven tyre wear and the handling is spot on - way better than standard. It feels really stiff and feels like it holds the roads loads better than before.
I will have it done when the coilovers go on next month though because it'll be more of a drop and a complete change of suspension setup.
