new car advice/problems

  RB5 & 172

well my 172 has gone and i collected my old 106 gti last night. however after about 30mins driving it started to hesitate when you go on and off the throttle and sometimes when driving with lowish revs.

it is due a service and is high mileage so im thinking it is just needing new plugs, air filter and maybe a new fuel filter?

anyone had a similar problem on any of there cars?

My sisters 106 gti did that so I think its a common problem with them, a pug dealership charged her £150 to fix it, she was told later by an ex- employee that they just took it out and thrashed it for an hour.... the problem never went away and she couldnt trust the dealer after that, she was told when she part-exd it that it was a sticky cable(?) or an engine sensor. They must have repaired it before selling it on.....so we never found out the real cause...
