Need some advice/opinions

Hey Guys

Looking to get rid of my well loved 172cup. I want to get myself a bigger car, nothing else to it.

I am unsure whether to do a private sale, or to trade it in against something else. I need your words of wisdom lol.

I do have a few things i need to sort out. These are as follows:

• wheels could do with a refurb and some fresh tread all round
• steering wheel rubber is buggered
• exhaust (from prospeed) has split around inside of centre silencer

Modifications are few, with just a prospeed exhaust and decat, and carbon bonnet.

Now... i assume that a dealer will not want a carbon bonnet, or a prospeed exhaust lol let alone a decat. So i'd need to sort that out.

And a private sale... won't want to start work on it as soon as they buy it.

Its december 2002 registered (52 plate), got a full service history, done 72k (72k service done 2 weeks ago), i previous owner.. and no other problems. Its been a bloody good car to me, and will be sorry to see it go... but unfortunately... its got to go one way or another.

What do you guys suggest? I beleive trade on an avg example with my milage would be about 5 - 5.5k? And private about 6k?

What do you think i should do.... ?

sell it on here if u cant be arsed to sort all that stuff, its easy to fix and im sure sum1 on here will want. cud push for £5000-£5500 really.

trading in is a big no no, they'll rip u off mate, remember theyve got to sell the car on and make a profit, lol.

I got offered 5k for my 03 flamer in part ex, and could probably get 6-6500 for it privately. Trading in is the easy option, but you will get a better deal selling privately.

not rushed rushed but don't want to wait months and months for a sale to come along.

If I was in a rush I would trade it in and take the loss but if I wasnt I would wait it out and sell private, guess they key is to price it to sell and it wont be around long

you think trading in will go 'oooooh don't like the look of that exhaust, and the wheels are a bit rought, and the exhaust and bonnet... people wont like that... tut tut tut' ??

Havnt got a clue never traded in before, probably give you less cash if its really that bad/noticable ??

Wouldnt trade it in mate. At work when someone brings in a part exchange we knock money off it for kerbing, anything that needs work before its put up for sale again, so you would be better selling privately IMO.
