My first mod...

  Subaru Impreza (334BHP)
Hi All, my very first post on the RenaultSport forum. :D

Just sold my 290 BHP Audi TT after spending 2 full years modding and improving it and have decided on a 172 as my next project.

I picked her up with 13K on the clock, registered in Jan 2004 for £8K. She's in perfect condition and awaiting my very first mod.

I am firstly looking in to the engine department, air filter (induction kit), chipping it, exhaust etc...

I am after quiet a grumble from an induction kit or air filter and would like to know your recommendations? Do they make a typhoon kit for my model??

Also, I have been searching for a short shifter but can old find them for models made before 1996 by B&M, is this right?

I'll have loads of questions in the near future but thought I would start off small...

Thanks in advance!

I'll post a picture up of her tomorrow once I have swissol'd my new baby.

the B&M's are the same for all clios/5's/meganes

don't expect much from a filter, chip, exhaust (always use a sealed induction kit on the 172 engine) you'll get 185bhp max out of that lot (with CAT still in)

Vipers come highly recommended

Rather than performance I am after best (subtle) sound. I was thinking about a blueflame exhaust and maybe the K&N Gen II Air filter?

Anyone got the K&N kit fitted?

i would stay away from an open induction kit...

in fact, a replacement air filter in the standard box will give similar gains, however it wont sound as good as a Viper.
