My 182 Cup

  clio 182 cup
Having bought my 182 cup last week, I was on cloud nine on the day I picked it up. I relished the drive home from christchurch to Oxford. Drove back fine and all day I was very impressed as I drove it any chance I could get.Went out Sunday and I was just giving it some welly past a mazda, when suddenly I lost all compresion, the temperture gauge went to zero and as I slowed down to a stop the revs went to about 2000rpm then died.It also smelt of petrol. I could not restart it and looked a right nob as the mazda I screamed past drove past leisurely and the guy was laughing his head off. After about 20 mins it restarted and I nursed it home.Tried again later and it happened again although this time a tone seemed to be coming from the top area of the engine and I could only turn it over a certain amount of time before that stopped. I am inclined to think this problem is a sensor somewhere. I got the AA to get it to Renault and they have had it all week, say they cant find anything and their pc in coming back with nothing. They have test drove it but cant seem to get the fault to occur. I have only had the car a week with 4 days in the garage. I love the car but worry if I take it back of Renault, my wife and kid will end up stuck in the middle of nowhere. Has anyone had this problem? can anyone offer any advice? The car is a 05 cup. Cheer to anyone who can help but I am at a loss.

temp sensor/ and or loom, search it matey :) its pretty common

TDC sensor possibly if not that? When that goes the revs are limited to 2k rpm.

Also known as, 'limp mode', as fletch says ^^

May have to take the car in, and tell them the tdc needs replacing, as when mine went they couldnt find it, had to take it back and tell them what to fix! lol

guys the clue is in there, its not the tdc....... ;)

the temp sensor or wiring fails, and the car thinks its cold (hense the temp guage reading zero) and over fuels big time (causing black smoke/petrol smell) then will cut out as its flooded the engine.....
