Morego Star chips

  Clio sport 182
Has anyone used these? They offer a chip for the 172 which gains 10bhp for £349.99. Can anyone reccomend a company for chipping the 172?

Rob

It won't make 10hp top end more like 3~4. Gains are more mid range.

Quite a few compnaies can do remaps
Yoaasport.
Chipwizards are also popular.

pmurray on here at RSTUNING, Leeds.

I am taking my 172 FF over there to get "sorted" after having a S/S cat back on as i've lost some torque low down, but increased top end power. Sooner have the torque, saves me thrashing it all the time.

Is it common to lose power low down when having a s/s cat back exhaust fitted?

As far as I have read on here yes.

The burble also makes it sound like yr labouring the engine compared to the lovely smooth OEM exhaust.

RS Tuning quote an increase of 30Nm of torque on the 182's original 200Nm.

Dont' know about the 172?

That sounds a bit high.

Er, just going by what it says on their website edde....

15%. Paul said i should expect about 12lb ft torque increase on a standard 172. I have since added ITG panel and freeflow S/S catback. Still not been for re-map yet though. Strapped for cash!!:(

I'm going to get the inlet manifold matched as well as a remap, would you suggest sticking with the factory exhaust then.

Here is an actual test done on a 182 with full SS catback and a badly fitted viper IK! As i always say forget the actual figure just look at the gains, each run was within 30 mins of each other:

As for the figures on the site, they are close enough but not 100% hence the disclaimer!

Cheers

Paul

If you want yr car quiet as can be, then yes stick with it, however reason I got SS exhaust is because the backbox fell off and the centre section was knackered.

Renault OEM fitted = £450 approx - mild steel - 1yr guarantee
Powerflow S/S fitted = £230 - will not rust - lifetime guarantee

Didnt want to put a OEM one on for it to drop off in 13 months time, then forcing me into getting a stainless one after all!

Mine sounds really smooth and racy at high revs though.

ps, the noise on S/S exhausts is due to the free-flow silencers, ie no baffles in them to reduce the noise more. Hence they flow gases better...but more noise.

It' the loss of low down power that you mentioned that worries me the most.Thats the thing about the clio I love the most!

Mmm. It's difficult to describe. Just feels like the engines labouring because of the deep burble of the exhaust note, like pulling off in the wrong gear.

I'll have to let you know if the re-map improves this.

PS, my cat back is a replica of the OEM exhaust, 2" pipe, mid silencer and rear silencer, [no small silencer on the upsweep over the rear axle though] Stealth style, hidden single bent down tailpipe.
