Modded 172s/182s With Panel Filter

Just curious

All those who have all the following :- decat, cat-back, matched inlets, remaps / GRPN ECU

Anyone chosen to stay with panel filter instead of an IK eg BMC, Viper, Maxogen ?

I know some will say this topics been done to death but it's usually asked when someones simply going the cat-back + filter route

If you had ALL the above done, would it then be worthwhile ditching the std airbox

i have a mk1 172 so the proper induction kit ;) have fitted a K&N panel filter and noticed a definete improved driveabilty. so will be doing the rest of your list and sticking with the airbox, as the only improvement would be a maxogen. but at 10x the cost of a panel filter it aint worth it for me.

Ive got remap, inlet mani match, exhaust and used to have a sports cat but stuck with a itg panel fitler as their much cheaper, the difference between panel and IK not massive and cause i didnt want increase noise.

What do have in mind to do next Justin? Are you going for the more extreme tuning, or are you calling it a day?

On a similar note, have seen the 2 stages of upgrade available at K-TEC. Stage 1,with ktr exhaust and itg panel filter and a claim of 6 bhp. Stage 2,with ktr exhaust,viper,group n remap and a claim of 12bhp. Am tempted to go with Stage 1 and remap,as want to stick with panel filter. Anyone had either package done? Any RR figures to prove claims? Cheers guys
