microsft update wont err well update

right brand spanking new install of xpwith sp2 installed on dell d505 laptop then install office 2003 sbe oem try to run microsft update it installs latest version and all that then asks express or custom as it should. then i click custom it sits there with that blue line gowing round and round for maybe 30 minutes then errors

i then uninstall office run it again and it works ! install office 2003 again and guess what update wont work !!


anyone else finding this ?

Not got office 2003 but perhaps it's just taking a lot longer because there are so many more updates for it to find, how long have you left it?

Sorry just read that it errors, what's the error?

You receive an "Error 80070643" error message when you try to update Office 2003 by using Software Update Services?

I'm having big problems trying to update today, doing my nut in.

it basically seems to time out i have had it on a few pc's lately really hacking me off

when i have finished installing the windows ones i shall let you know

the automatic updates are even worse, ones of recent have been rendering people's desktops/laptops useless for 30 mins - 1 hour some mornings.

Are you running via the Windows update site or do you have a dedicated WSUS server for updating all your clients?
