Mac Mail Not Sending

This happens quite often now and its really doing my head in, searched the internet and it seems it was happening when they changed to mobile me.

Error message comes up saying...

Cannot send message using this server
smtp.mac.com:username

sending the message content to the server failed etc etc

Done the connection doctor and everything is okay.

What can i do or try so i can send some important mail?

change the smtp to the correct address would be a good start.

smtp.me.com and port 587

I made a new .me server but its still the same.

They changed to 'me' but i had an account before that so it will still work with .mac.

Any other ideas?

Can you post the exact config (minus users and passwords)

What connection are you using? (ISP)

On the bar select 'Mail,' then 'Preferences' and when that window opens, click on the 'Accounts' tab.

Who is your ISP?

You more than likely have to use their outgoing settings.

Who is your ISP, they could be having a problem..... don't rule that out.

A couple of things that might help.

Try and override the default SMTP port, I found that it sometimes has issues for me, I use 2525.

Make sure SMTP requires authentication and use the same settings as receiving mail server.

Use the correct port if required.

Need to have more information as stated in order to help you resolve the problem.

My smtp does require a password, I dont really know alot about anything else concerning this?
