Just took the RSI out for a Spin...

  Sold MK1 RSI to travel

Cleaned the car as was a nice day, took her for a spin on the by pass, and Im already bored of the power!!! I understand it good up to 85 but after that :(

times like this, wish I had a valver, but hopefully this HP Stage 1 should do for the mean time and will have to re-evaluate the situation.

I reckon though if I got the stage 2, then id be happy, but its been said before and Ill say it again, you just get bored and want more power!!!

I didnt find out how much TB were from HP but the total spent would be around £3600 for Stage 1+2 (+car)and how much are willy about 5k??? Would it be worth it, it would to see a bog standard looking car smoke pps at the lights and on the motorway, agh dreams :D

It wont be much mate to get a 16v 1.8 or 2.0 put in mate, just getting hold of a decent lump to put in yours, think a 2.0 16v megane lump is your best bet but you will probably need the gearbox as well so looking at around £750 and probably about £500 to get it fitted if your serious about it then I know a company who would do the conversion for you.

I sold my 1.8 16v engine and box and all other parts for £450 and then the basic labour charge for the lad to get it on his 1.2 was £450.

Thanks Marcus, do you know whether the engine will fit, as there is no bonnet bulge(so there will probably need one), wide arches? Will a megane fit?

For £1250 what kinda miles on the engine are you looking at and are there insurance companies that will insure me?

Si - Ask Paul16v what hes doing with his engine. Hes always going on about putting a 2 litre lump in his Valver, so you might be able to get first refusal on his engine?

Engine will fit without the need for the wings and bulge, dont know how different the wiring is in the RSi to the valvers, best company to go for would be liverpoolvictoria for insurance, basically you will have to search for a 2.0 16v engine but the 1.8 16v engine will be alot easier to find and cheaper.

Im guessing you can just change the wiring loom over.. Torsion would sort that all out tho I guess.

Cheers Rhys.

To be honest I wouldnt have the money for a while, but its just so that I know whether to go ballistic or wait and get a faster motor.

But again I reckon a valver engine will need the bonnet and arches ]

One last point though, the wheels I want are gonna cost arond £600 for 15s and its just that for another £600 I could get some serious engine work done, but surely if I get the engine work done 15s will be a must becasue of the power increase?Or should I just ditch those - jkop pok tyres?

To be fair the Stage 1 is going ahead anyhoot, but in my opinion a Stage 1 RSI engine with 52k on the clock can be sold very easily, right?

The idea of a 2.0 16valve sounds awsome! Thats the whole point though for me, a fast car that dont look fast!

Any stats on the 2.0 16 megane pps?

Cheers lads.

well i drove my mates 2.0 megane coupe and it was sh!t off a shovel so in a lighter mota it would be a bit special, think 150 bhp is bout rite

100% dont need the valver wings and bulge for the conversion, a lad on the forums Mdjones has got my old 1.8 16v engine in his clio which was either a 1.4 or a 1.2, and it is straight in without the need for the wings and bonnet bulge.

And £600 for 15s???? I would pay £600 for a decent set of 17s and good tyres mate.
