Its knackered!

the CAT on my car has called it a day, well it did the other day, my local garage quoted me £150 for new 1 for a mk1 RT.

things is im wondering would it be cheaper to put a decat on it...would it pass an MOT.

also there is a box just after the CAT that looks similar to it which i think is just a silencer and that looks pretty new but on the way home from work 2nite that too started blowing too. so not only does the car now sound like sh*t, its slow as f**k too. what do i do? dont really want to fork out £150 on a new CAT when it wont even see half its life due to the mileage on my car already.

would be greatful for any suggestions

the car may not pass an mot without the cat fitted although some decatted cars have passed so you never know.

the chances are ill get a CAT from scrapers although not too keen on getting second hand exhausts bits. think i might f**k the silencer off, i want it loud

Just keep it for mots and put slap the de-cat for the rest of the time.. thats what I plan to do after the next mot..

If its a K plate or earlier then you dont have to have a cat on to pass the MOT.

(IIRC)

You dont actually need the cat on on a newer car to pass the MOT either if you set it up right...

yer, but were you getting your de-cat pipe from

oh yer, its m reg ("94) can get a CAT for about £50 from scrapers but that silencer seems to be a waste of time and would like to get rid of both if it would pass MOT that is
