Is windows media player available for download for Vista?

For some reason on my parent's PC (with vista) window media player doesnt work, icons are on the computer but when you try to open it nothing happens.

was going to try and downlaod it and instal it again. but looking on the MS website there are only versions for XP..

is there a vista one available?

There's no downloads available for Vista as it comes as part of Vista in the first place. Just download WMP11 "for XP" and install that.

if i was o stick the windows cd that it came with back in could i just install the media player from that?
