Induction Kit

  Mk1 Clio F4R'd
The little story first:

Was driving around with my mates, Civic Typre R and Vecrta Diesel, and wasnt doing too bad for a heavy 1.2.

But pushed the car too hard and found the air filter had jumped out. But this gave an amazing sound in the higher end of the revs, i mean stupidly nice and grunty, and quite nippy too.

So i really want an induction kit for my clio.

Its a 1997 Clio Mk1 1.2, but not sure what my options are...

Basically want the best noise i can (similar to no filter :p)

Cheers

If u can find one, then go for it mate.

I've got one in my 1.2.... even tho its an opened air cone filter, so therefore heat soak, but i aint bothered! The accelerate noise i love :)

lol for a 1.2 mate get yourself a 25 quid halfords open cone... probs same filter as a pipercross with dif colour. never know :)

DISCLAIMER: I would never normally recommend halfords ripspeed super chav stuff to anyone but if it is noise you want, these produce same noise as no filter ;)

  Clio mk1 rally :P
what engine?? is it the DIET D(something)?
because i recently put one in mine and sounds awesome.
and feels a bit nippier :)

I dont know which one i need, whats available etc...

anybody know?
Probably be a k&n jobbie.

An open one will infact slow the car down, so basically you don't want one of those. Induction noise is overrated on little engine cars tbh.

hmm... I wouldn't recommend one like that. My mate fitted it to his Hyundai Accent and it caused a spark in the engine bay (even after the keys were taken out) and his car caught fire whilst we were playing golf :S quite funny to look back but glad it weren't my car!

Save your cash.

I got a piperX, it sounds good, but for £100 I could have got somthing alot more interesting!

Go for a K+N for sound if you must!!

I'm no chav, believe me, if i was, i would have fitted massive ehausts everywhere. I'm still running my pee-shooter.

Not sure whhich 1.2 i have, any idea of how to find out?

and works for me.. bought universal filter off fleabay.
and 57mm silicone bend from autoperformance.
and 12mm breather filter (with male connector) from same place

bit of a squeeze to get it on. but worked :p
also had tho cut the bend bit a little

sounds awesome. and from what i can tell gives its a bit nippier

looks good. I was thinking of mounting it further away from the engine and having cold air feeds towards it.

Will have to make measurements and see whats happens. Cheers.

Any other pics from any one else with the same engine is much appreciated.

whilst i'm here, i wanted to completely remove the air box, but what is the cable on the air box for, and is it ok to remove it looking at Dangermike's set up?
