Induction kit help!

  FN2 Type R GT
Hi guys, just wondering which induction kits/airfilters would fit my clio 1.2 8v authentique, 2001. Any pictures of people who have got them to there cars or your help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

I assume that the black cone plastic bit at the top of the picture is the current airfilter and doesnt have a baseplate like the 16v 1.2's so how would i go about fitting a new airfilter/induction kit to it?

Not another 1! I seem to be continuosly replying to induction threads lol!

Ok, the 1.2 8v you can get Pipercross IK or panel filter or the K&N Gen 2 IK or panel filter. That is about it for the 8v (same for 16v as well). And Powertec as well do a stainless steel IK - But they are shyte so avoid at all costs. IMHO just get K&N panel filter with uprated CAF, I swear by them now after I changed from IK's. :D

You don't need a base plate for the filter as it goes straight into the manifold, but a 45 or 90 degree bit of vacuum piping will be needed to position the IK. IIRC most IK's come with all you need anyway. Another note about the 8v, don't position the IK directly above the engine block or be prepared for plenty of heat soak and you won't feel anything at all!

Ok so say i get a panel filter like u said, (have u gt a website for the one uve gt?) i then need vaccuum piping to get it away from the engine, any chance u cud elaborate with maybe a website? Sorry for the hassle but im a complete amateur and have no real clue what im doing, ill probably struggle hugely when i come to fit the thing!

Cheers

ok so a panel filter....does this make as much noise as the other one would? or does it make it as responsive as the other? Sorry bout all these questions guys!

The panel filter doesn't make as much noise if any at all because it's just replacing the original filter, but still in the original filter housing. It depends what you want. If you want performance then get a panel filter, if you want looks and sound, get an IK. Don't expect alot of gains in the 1.2 with either on, but you have much better response IMO from a panel filter.

I gave the link for the K&N panel filter above, product code E-9238. You can buy here: http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pa...ar=renaultclio&manufacturer=kn&sub_category=1

Ok i get you, so the new panel filter would go inside the black cone shaped thing at the top of the picture? and it wouldnt be hard to get into this then, 10 minutes for you could turn into so much more for me, lol!

Yes, it goes inside the cone shaped box in your engine where the induction piping is. Undo the bolts/ clips and take the original paper filter out then just place the new panel filter in it's place. Once you've stuck it in, close the filter housing and bolt it back up again.

I would personally come over and fit it for you, but Somerset is a good 4/5 hour trip from me.

lol yeh, cheers for your help anyway! am tied between the 2 now, think i may just go for IK as IMO i cant see watever i buy making that much difference as its a 1.2 an may as well go for sound so it sounds like im going fast even if im not!!
