InDesign homies.

i thought id have a play with in design, i usually use quark, this thing is far superior!

something is annoying me tho. I am making an 8 page A4 booklet, and in the page tab on the right hand side, it has thumbnails of each page. Now in quark u can drag and drop pages where ever you like, before/after pages, you can do it in InDesign too, but you cant have two A4 pages next to each other in the pasteboard if you understand? instead each page is below the other so you have to scroll down.

is there any way of making it so you can have 2 pages along side each other on the pasteboard?

The reason i want this is because the image on the front cover of the booklet goes across onto the back cover, which is what i want, but couldnt do this as i didnt know how to have 2 pages next to each other, so ive made an A3 page and stuck the front and back cover on it.

bit of an essay i know, but can anyone enlighten me? thanks in advance.

Or like quark click the lttle arrow top right of layout box and select keep pages together! then drag page next to the other page.

So it can be done :)

Indesign is the way forward! much prefer it to quark, plus it works perfectly with photoshop & illustrator.

although i hear the new quark is pretty good, i feel they rested on the laurels for far too long (as there wasn't any major competitors) & didn't improve it for years.

Think i kinda know what you mean.
Drag two pages down and just leave the first single page blank.
Then drag down how ever many you need and when you print, just print pages 2-onwards.

just like the pen tool? :p

Nah that's for Pros!

yep, i dont get along with the magnetic lasso!!

I have only used Indesign once, i use quark all the time at work. but from what i saw of Indesign, indesign is far superior, and the fact that it works closely with photoshop and illustrator wins it by far, just like dubstar said. Just need to convince my boss to buy it for me here!

Have had Indesign for about 3 months here and still not used it once yet. Can't find a job yet with a deadline long enough to allow me not to do a job in and learn it over Quark. Sahme as I am doing a book at the moment and stuck in Quark would have been nice to do it in Indesign.

i kind of had to do in in indesign, which im glad i did, was only an A4 8 page newsletter but wasnt work related so had to do it at home on the mac.

Im sure i only just touched the surface of what it is capable of tho. need to have a play!

m8 it takes about ten seconds to convert! you can even use quarks shortcuts in indesign (change the preferences).

A few things will annoy you at first but once you start using it fully its great although not that stable with PDF's!! hopefully fixed in CS3.

I have CS3 so that should be ok. When under time pressure last thing I want to be doing is using an application I am not as at home in.
