I had my cambelt & aux belt changed (pics included)

OK, only the cambelt, aux belt and the idler someone recommended had changed. Cost me 204.00ukp. I should checked Ktec site before I do it. Should have all tensioners/pulleys changed as well, even the garage guy said I can just wait until next cambelt change to do all. And he said cambelt is more important than all tensioners/pulleys. If the tensioners/pulleys has problem, I can hear the noise easily.

BTW, from the pic I asked him to took for me. I GUESS he just marked and change without using the special tools (even he said he had the tools), because I saw marks on the old cam too. Anyway, engine runs well and if he can do it, that is fine. Maybe he has the tools, maybe not, not sure.

The shop is specialist in Clio and French car. I am glad that I found them for help. Cos dealer are extremely expensive at 980ukp. I was surprised that they don't even need to remove the front wheel to do the job.

Well, what the guy said is - water pump is located underneath and it does not effect the cambelt. And it rarely has problem.

He also do engine port, please see my other post.

The one and only time we fitted belt and no tensioners on request it went totally tits up and snapped the belt on roadtest. Due to a tensioner collapsing!

Needless to say even if people are tight we always do both!

Not chnagine the tensions is a daft idea they'll fail very quickly.

What do you mean Edde??? You mean new cambelt will not work well with old tensioners??

They will work but Renault tensions are bad enough one they've been left off to put a new belt in then pulled back to get the tension on the new belt they fail quickly afterwards.
