Hsustyle's Titanium Ph1 project

  Megane R26
Hey guys, here's my Phase 1!

94k miles
Standard apart from 172 Cup dampers, Cooksport springs and 16mm spacers all around and ph2 dash.

It's really clean, not one dent! decent service history, lots of receipts.
Plans are to keep it pretty much OE Looking but with some subtle mods.

Belts were done in 2015, Engine Dynamics.

I'm breaking my 182 so will swap over lots of bits -
Whiteline Arb
Braided brake lines
Cup and master cylinder
Magnecor leads
182 manifold
Pms top mounts
Bms shifter
20mm ich hubcentric spacers front, 15mm shim spacers rear
182 subframe, dogmount & arb
Fabia splitter

I have a strong 172 engine in my 182,belts a few months ago so that will go in the Ph1 with a 172 Cup gearbox, 182 manifold, RS inlet and off to Engine Dynamics at the end of the month for remap.

Also on the hunt for a Titanium Cup spoiler..

Ozs are getting refurb in silver with my new Federal Rsr.

Steering wheel gets refurbed in suade!

Use the 182 ones for the extra castor.
The ph1 ones are the same width, the extra width comes from the subframe.
The ph1 shafts will be ok on the road but full lock and track work will risk failure. Seen it first hand.

Update!

Firstly, this car is fun! My last few hot hatches were good little cars with the occasional exciting moment. This has reminded me why I like small cars with a bit of poke and a good chassis.

Plan was to keep it fairly o.e but that idea went out the window when good bits came off my 182.

I have all the original parts apart from exhaust so I can always put it back to standard if and when I sell.

I'll update this more often but here's some pics and progress.

Side badges yellow.
Same as my refurbished front & rear calipers.

Brakes
Mintex 1144 pads
Goodridge braided brake lines

Exhaust -
Got a Supersport Ktec stealth and ran it for a week before I had rear pipe chopped and a 2.25 inch recessed jobbie welded on. Different in sound is fantastic, no more bassy boom.

I'll spray the backbox and pipe matt black with high temp to keep it as stealth as possible.

Interior
Has a ph2 dash already which is a nice touch.
I then fitted my
BMS SHIFTER
1X Cobreau Dfx, gf doesn't like sitting in one passenger side. I hardly have a passenger but hey, gotta keep em happy. I rather matching seats..
Very comfortable, low enough and very supportive.

Also fitted a quick release steering wheel boss and a Dished Suede OMP CORSICA steering wheel and RS floor mats from the 182.

Handles lovely now, same set up as my 182 apart from 182 cup packed hubs /dampers nut this feels a lot Sharper and pointy. Maybe the weight difference?

Engine -
Rs lower inlet
Red Magnecor leads

Headlights!
I like the old skool look so went with yellow tinted fogs,
Yellow side lights
Yellow full beam.
My dipped beam is still a very bright white xenon conversion

182 manifold. What a pain to wrap and fit.. But looks good back there where no one can see it..
More grunt low down, possibly less up top and less 5k kick. The 172 manifold was quiter and more rev friendly but I prefer the 182. Remap should make it worth it.

Ignore the skanky bulkhead heatshield, im waiting for a nice new one to arrive!

Should look well with the bonnet done.
I hope so with the current l matte grey sunstrip and dark wind deflectors.
Unsure if to refurb the wheels silver or Anthracite
Oh really? I assumed they all would have been. (I'm not a phase 1 expert!).... (or a phase 2 come to that!)
Mine Doesn't have the aluminium bonnet sadly. The carbon fibre one is considerably lighter, will check exactly difference soon.

Added some gel type side stickers, old Renaultsport type

Was at my mates garage earlier tonight to have new fuel filter, oil and filter change.
Also added a can of BG44K to the fuel tank to clean the fuel system and injectors prior to next weeks rolling road and remap at Engine Dynamics.

Good day at Engine Dynamics today!

Health check and 'level 1 remap'. A base map was loaded and tweaked from there, chuffed with the results, way more eager than my 182 was.

Ph1 172
Ph1 airbox, ITG filter
Rs lower inlet
182 manifold heatwrapped
Ktec decat
Ktec Supersport exhaust
Red Magnecor leads
Replaced a faulty knock sensor before first run was made as fuelling was all over the place.

Before -
167.6 bhp @ 6450rpm
153.8 lbft Torque @ 5500rpm
5tvuo5lg.jpg

Then three hours later...
180.7 bhp @ 6450rpm
163.8 lbft Torque @ 5300rpm
agffv5iz.jpg

Feels great now, smooth, all the way to 7500rpm.
I get the odd crackle and small pop too, really subtle, I love it!

Long day but worth every penny

Great gains! That crackle is a nice added bonus as well. I really need to get mine booked in and sorted out, it definitely seems a bit laggy/hesitant, know theres something up with it

I fitted a Corbeau Clubsport instead of the Dfx and did a mod to lower my steering column more. Driving position and steering wheel adjustment is spot on now!

Took some pics at sunset earlier after a proper drive. This thing makes me smile, that's for sure!

I've been offered some anthracite Turbines with near new ps3 tyres.. Should I swap? I've Googled images but unsure if they look too tame? Ideally after some 2118s.

I also still have 4x Federal rsr in my shed, new in nov, ran for a week, 195/50/15. What might these be worth?

Turbines on and front upper grille wrapped in carbon wrap. This took aaaages and I'm not even sure I like it, definitely preferred the clean silver.

  Megane R26
Then fitted my repainted 182 subframe
It has -
182 arb, polybushed inner & outer
182 dogmodog polybushed
Black polybush 182 wishbones with new ball joints.
182 steering rack polybush mounts
New 182 tres inner & outer
182 driveshafts

Im sure the polybushed wishbones made the most difference, feels fantastic!

I've used some old Volvo rear mudflaps for brake cooling.

Not a fan of that wrapped part above the bumper. Do like the turbines though.

Is the extra width the 182 parts give you really worth all the effort?
